Yep the widow maker almost got me. Felt like a little discomfort above my heart when walking. Went to the hospital for their tests, which I passed and said come back the next day. If there is same problem. There was.
Well it happened the next day. Back in the hospital where they did a cath..failed big time. Another week and it would be game over. No fun for 2 weeks. They didn't' perform by pass there so took an ambulance to a center city hospital. So, best option is to go with the by-pass. Didn't see it coming. I asked stent doc ok you're me what you gonna do? She said do the by-pass. Better shot at living. When the blood comes down the arrorta it hits a dead end before it moves up into it's journey. This is where the cholesterol hits turning into a hard calcified substance. The stent pushes against this hard surface. It could break the artery instead of pushing it to the side. Also, fissures could form on inner walls of artery. Which could break on out to other side. Get to the new hospital in the middle of the night. Female doc comes in. I have time do you want us to do it now. I said. no. Next morning a male doctor comes in. What do you want to do? I tell him to give me till 6:30am. He's back at 6:15. Need to know. I say ok then. His name is Mooney, same name of friend I have. He's a cool guy. So, that gave me hope with this doc. Then they shaved my hair off the body except the head. Then it was lights out. Big room. Females and males all wearing dark blue scrubs. Against a white interior. Everybody knows their job. All of them 100 per cent focused. I got up off of gurney on to a higher operating table, silver looking. Woke up to a big scar in chest and 2 picks in my neck. Plus wires all over. They kept me out of pain with their drugs. I slowly limited my pain drugs down. 5 days I was done with them. Slowly they wanted me to walk. First day I said no. Second day up for small walk. There were other female patients up and walking. I couldn't believe it. The nurses were great, all of them. I am thankful.
I was being wheeled into new room. One small nurse was trying to jump up in up to unhook a metal hook from netting that was stopping the curtain. I said stop that. She was too small. I said get a step stool. One went to look for one while another looked for a tool. One nurse said I have a Brad. Entrance of Brad big guy 6,'4. He reached up and takes out the offending hook. Curtain can now close.
Food was good. Got my taste buds back after 5 days. Their coffee was no good. I got my own delivered decaf instant by Folgers. It tasted a little better not much though. Since home it's been good. They gave me chicken marsala. I don't know why. Maybe it's fat free. I don't know. The staff were all top notch except one tech. She gave me a hard time in a chair placement in my room. I wanted it set up my way. No problem before with the others but with this one. My nurse took care of it. Thanks nurse. I left like 9 days later. Been recuperating since.
Did I see it coming? Yes and no. Last Spring I wrote about some future event where I would have a lapse of blogging. So, I guess that was a heads up but not what I thought could happen.
