Democracy is a precious gift that we here in the US have given ourselves. It didn't come cheap. Many sacrifices were born by many colonists. They defeated the number one military power in the world. It only happened because of God lending his hand behind the scenes help. George Washington was trapped on Long Island NY in 1775. Situation was dire for the colonists. The lit candle was about to be snuffed. Then out of nowhere a dense fog enveloped the area. Washington with the help of Massachusetts sailors was able to escape using fires placed many feet apart to make the Brits think that he was still there and big row boats to ferry his soldiers to Manhattan. God brought the fog at the right time and place. Another situation developed in Pennsylvania when George Washington was out conversing with 2 other officers early in the morning. Unbeknownst to George a British sharpshooter had him in his sights, he didn't know it was George. He had his finger on the trigger, but he couldn't pull it. He said he couldn't shoot because he felt that it wasn't right to take someone down when they were no threat. Just maybe it was God speaking to him (the British soldier) very softly in the morning light. George would also have musket balls tear through his cloak throughout the war, never sustaining a major wound. God was on his side. George was part of God's master plan for the human race. Which is still unfolding to this very day. Today democracy hangs in the balance. What will you do to keep the light of democracy burning. Democracy is about empathy for ones fellow citizen. Look out for your self and once in awhile look after the ones who don't have it as good as you.
I like this sentiment a rising tide raises all boats.
